porcelin tiles - how to clean them

this may sound like a rather obvious question!

I recently moved in to my new house where on 2/3 thirds of the downstairs floor a polished porcelin tile that i bought in "tubs and tiles" was laid. (They were sealed at the time of laying) However i am just finding them an absoulte nightmare to keep.

At the moment I am mopping them with hot water and a small amount of flash and this is resulting in dried water marks being left on the tile. Today I resorted to washing the floor by hand and then drying it by hand - but surely there has to be an easier way!

So how do you clean them??!!!!

I would be delighted to hear anyone elses experiences!

I'm new to washing porcelain tiles too and so far have found that finishing with a damp microfibre mop/cloth leaves a nice streakfree finish.

Lidl have a mop system which has a microfibre head and I use that. Have heard that a splash of lemon juice in the water will help with streaks.

I have seen special cleaners for porcelain tiles in tile shops. Maybe also in some of the larger DIY stores.

Some of these tiles come from factories with a waxy film, which is supposed to be 'burned off' with the grout. Sometimes it is almost impossible to remove. There may be some residue of this still on the tiles. Check with the supplier and your tiler.

I find that I rarely have to use water, unless the floor is greasy. Because I have U/FH, the floor is always dry, and most stains come off with the floorbrush. I just have to wipe them as opposed to washing them.

If you have ivory grout, avoid using strong detergents on your floor, as the chemicals will cause the grout to deteriorate slightly, which will allow it to absorb stains.

Don't be on your knees drying that floor - use an old towel, and the back of the head of the floorbrush.
 
ever watch how clean is your home with the 2 british ladies .well...there tip for things like this is 1 white vinegar water and 3 parts water in a spraybottle.then rub with a cloth.no water marks and clean tiles.
worth a try.
