Can't find another similar thread, so here's a new one.

  • Lollo Rossa Lettuce. Lovely deep red colour can be planted amongst flowers. Tastes great too.
  • White stemmed Pak Choi. If you never grew this before, please try it. Easy to grow, very tasty, healthy n versatile. Can be packed into a small space.
  • Pink flowered Strawberries. I don't have a variety name, but got them in Homebase. Lovely looking plant & very large sweet fruit.
  • French Dwarf Haricots (from Lidl). Lovely looking plant and very productive. Kind of yellowish colour.
  • Leek De Carentan 2. (from Lidl) On the plus side, it tolerates winter well, on the negative, very slow growing (leastways in my garden).
  • Swiss Chard. I grew this last yr 1st time. It is just gorgeous, very attractive plant, overwinters well.I was eating it in Nov/Dec/Jan. Very good for you, Versatile too. Please try it.
I'm looking for recommendations on Leeks, want a fast-growing one, and maybe planting tips. Also a good variety of Parsely. My Parsely never seems to grow really well. I've tried it in ground & pots. Also want some tips on Coriander, mine grows ok in pots, but could do better.

The Euro store (Dublin) are doing various herbs in pots ready to go. 2 for 2 Euro. Have to say, very good quality. I bought coriander.Ideal with window stills. The plastic lid acts as a wee glasshouse. Nifty. They look like instant noodles containers.

They are also selling a very good slow release all-purpose plant food. I used this last yr for indoor plants, and it was great.

Two other penny pinching tips guys. Pick up the wooden sticks from coffee shops as seed markers. I use em all the time. Also, do you freeze your unused seeds? I do. I have been using the same packet of pea's foe 3 yrs. Freezing unused seeds prevents them from going off, and you can avoid buying new ones

Just over in Homebase (off M50) Ballymun, and they are selling grow your own potatoes patio packs for 3.74.(Ex.compost). Very good value. They are also selliing some lovely patio trees, dwarf nectarines, peaches and full size walnut trees for between 13.00 - 17.50. I bought a nectarine and a potato grow bag set. There are three bags and three different types of spuds. Perfect for filling up odd spots, for anyone who has space restrictions,or people like me who want to try out new varieties.
