Picking sloes in the Dublin area

Anybody have any idea where I could find sloes in the Dublin area. Is this the right time of year to be looking for them?

Well I presume you mean you are looking in the shops? if you are looking to pick off the bushes then september is the time to do it.

No. I was talking about picking them off bushes rather than shelves.

Now is the right time to pick sloes, they are best after the first frost. However, I'm in the midlands and there are no sloes to be found this year. Even the hedges around our garden, which are usually loaded, are barren this year.

Got some in England last week (enough for the sloe gin) but still few enough on the bushes there too. Maybe to do with the weather this year.

I've never seen sloes sold in a greengrocer / shop.

It seems to be a bad year for Sloes this year, so may have to leave it till next year!.
reminds me, I must taste the Sloe gin I made last year.
