Phone options when your call costs are really low

I'm currently with UTV Talk and pay €25 per month line rental with call costs rarely getting above €5. That's bonkers as it works out that my calls are insanely expensive per minute when you factor in the line rental costs.

Most of my calls are to mobiles and not very long (usually! When Mammy calls it gets a bit chattier!)

What alternatives do I have to paying silly line rental with my call cost profile? Skype? Any free line rental deals?

Cable or wireless broadband with VoIP?
A mobile package that gives builds in a suitable amount of calls/minutes to the relevant sort of destinations?

www.callcosts.ie might be worth checking?

Get rid of your landline and use your mobile instead.
VoIP is a bit hit and miss - we find ours 90% reliable.
