Phillips DVD-R610 in tesco

Hi,
I've seen the Phillips 610 DVD-R on sale in Tesco, seems like a good buy but I'm wondering if anyone here has any comments - good or bad - on it? I can find little info about it which has me a little worried!

Xtravision are also offering it for Eur299 but with a Eur100 worth of free vouchers...

Personally though, I'd buy a model that also has DVD Ram capability (together with + or - r/rw) so that you can enjoy Pause Live TV and record while watching another program on the disc functionality..

Sounds like the Panasonic at 399.00 Euro in Xtravision.

Lots of mentions in the hardware forum over at www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk - issues with the fan etc. Did you buy the R610, and if so are you happy with it?

"Current models from Pioneer,Toshiba and Panasonic come highly recommended.If you want to play rewritables on players elswhere in your house,forget Panasonic.Pioneer have about 3 different models with varying sizes of HDD,and Toshiba have the best menu options and the cheapest price.Just avoid the Philips."
