Hi,

has any one bought one of the new philips tv's, the 7603 series..are they any good? Do you need to get a seperate home cinema system or is the sound from the tv good enough?

Thanks
K

They are not around that long so reviews are scarce. This one review for the 42" model I have come across is very good. However I notice that the TV does not possess 100hz processing, although this may not mean that the picture quality is any worse. I refer to this because the high-end Toshiba ZF and Samsung A656 models have it, and it is believed to deliver smoother motion. Of course this TV also possesses Philips Ambilight technology which many find gives a superior picture also.

In terms of sound quality, read the following excerpt from one of the review sites:
It has 2 exclusively built-in wOOx loudspeakers that blend themselves with the architecture of the flat panel perfectly and dynamically enhance a superior bass and sound experience. The wOOx technology was developed by Philips which involves optimization of the 3 components of the loudspeaker system namely the active bass driver, the bass radiator and active equalization.

if you bought this tv would you need a home theatre system??

if so, has anyone looked at the philips sound bar? any opinions?
