I've no idea. I suggest the biggest engine you can afford if you are towing.
from Ford should give you an indication of what you can tow, just pick a Ford car with the nearest engine output (BHP and Torque).

I'd second this. People sometimes think that the smaller engines will be more economical, but it ain't necessarily so. (https://youtu.be/9yfGadC6atc )

The smaller engine may be more strained to lug the relatively large body of these cars around.

I hired a Berlingo just this week for a few days that involved local and long country runs, it was great, even had cruise control which my wife's new 34k car does not have as standard, no a/c which was a bummer in this weather. a little to much cheap plastic inside for me but lots of storage space and pulled well with a full heavy load, economy was also fine.
