I am self employed and as far as I know do not pay PRSI or other levies. Does this mean I get 42% tax relief on pension contributions as opposed to the 48% I see quoted for others who pay levies and PRSI?

Surely you pay some PRSI - e.g. Class S? I presume that self employed individuals obtain full tax and PRSI relief on pension contributions up to the normal age related tax relief limits. Maybe the rules are different for self employed in other respects. Your accountant should be able to advise you.

As a self employed person you should be paying Class S contributions, which will be 5% of your "reckonable income", which includes your profit or income from the business. is your accountant not advising you on these matters?
