Pension break or not?

Hi
I am 32 years old self employed and have been paying into a pension for the past 10 to 11 years at about €420 per month,now the advice iam looking for is ,1) Do i continue to pay into this pension each month or is it a waste of money at present as its under performing or 2) Put the pension on hold for a year or two and put the €420/month into a savings account.Thanks in advance for any advice received.

- are you prepared to lock away this money until your retirement age?
- are you prepared to take short term risks with the capital in search of long term gains?
- is the tax relief on pensions important to you?
