For example, the version of Windows (including service pack and Windows update patch level if possible), anything that you installed in terms of hardware/software/drivers/Windows updates etc. between when it worked OK and when it stopped shutting down correctly, precisely what happens when you attempt a shutdown from the Start menu etc.
