Hi, what does it mean if my payslip says tax period is "04" but tax basis is "M1"? Is this Month 1 basis? What does this mean, am I losing out?

Just checked my revenue.ie tax cert and cert says that I am on week 1/month 1 from May 10. I did get some incorrect tax credits adjusted, but should I be on week 1/ month 1 basis? In my experience the last 2 years, Revenue makes a lot of mistakes and you have to chase them for corrections so if I am losing out on this I better start another enquiry!

Did your tax credits increase or reduce? Often Revenue will change to a W1/M1 basis where there is a change of tax credits mid year. It would depend on circumstances for e.g. was it a transfer of tax credits between spouses? You can call and ask them to change it to a cumulative basis but depending on the change you may (or your spouse, if that's relevant) have a tax liability in your next payroll. I would need more details to confirm.
