I will now be receiving my payslip by email. Is this more common and should it cause me any problems?

It's getting more common, I get mine via an internal website, I've never had an issues with it

Yes it is. The only stipulation on receiving it via email is that the company must provide you with access to printing it.

We have been getting ours by email for a few years now. Very handy, as it is easy to file them.

It's becoming more and more popular, shouldn't give you any problems at all.

The biggest issue really is security. Any I've ever received have been in password protected PDF's, which helps, but this can be very easily broken tbh. Ask the company what security will be used (directly), what advice they have for employees for additional security (indirectly - e.g. only saving it to secure locations, password protected directories, etc. etc.) and you shouldn't have any problems.
