My husband and a friend intend to build a house in the hope of selling it.Can they just apply for an ordinary mortgage or will it matter that they hope not to have it for long???
They'll have to apply for an investment mortgage. There shouldn't be any problems getting a mortgage allowing early repayments. They should confirm the T&Cs allow this before they sign up.
the only thing is to avoid fixed rates,(there would be a penalty) if they are on a variable or preferably a tracker (cheaper) there is no problem redeeming a mortgage early.
