I need to get in touch with a patent lawyer or specialist to find out what the details are of an existing US patent and what is involved in doing a search for, and then registering, a new product.
I have been in touch with a guy in Dublin but I'm not impressed so far. Any advice would be appreciated.

A company that I worked for dealt with Cruickshank & Co. in the past in case that's of any use but the whole process seemed an arcane black art to me to be honest so I can't really vouch for them.

Thanks guys, we will be meeting a solicitor during the week that is said to be the dogs you know what on the whole area of intellectual property and patents etc but it's always good to get more that one opinion.

In my (indirect) experience be prepared for a long drawn out and expensive process so!

search the Internet for a chat room like this one
that is for patent related discussion.

i'm sure theres one out there.

then read as much as you can before you go to
your meeting, so you can spend the time on the
issues you need to deal with and not the basic
stuff that you could pick up from the website.

Re: patent

I also dealt with FR Kelly and found them to be very professional and competent. Listed their fees almost to the penny up front and gave me fairly exact time frames on deliverables.

Previous to that I had some dealings with another firm (one guy) and wasted almost 10 weeks achieving nothing. You should know from one or two meetings if your contact will deliver.

Good luck.

Re: patent

Hi Pudzer, Can you PM me with the name of the guy that was no good please?
Clubman, I found the Cruickshank wab site very good, thanks.
