My girlfriend, who'll be wife in September, was made redundant and has stopped paying into her company's Group PRSA scheme with Eagle Star.

She's going back to full time education but I'd like to top it up for her until she's back in employment.

Can I claim any tax relief if I do this? I have my own non-contributory pension in my own job and contribute 4% to an associated AVC.

Thanks for any advice.

In order to get tax relief, your partner has to have net relevant earnings from employment. You will not be able to put money in her PRSA and avail of relief.

If you do fund her PRSA, however, she can claim tax relief on contributions if/when she returns to paid employment.
