I work 3days a week Tue Wed & thur, as christmas day falls on a saturday this year and new Years eve, what are my entitlements? Will i get paid for the bank holiday as normal 1.5 of my pay or can i take the Tues as annual leave instead?
Unless your contract gives you extra benefits the statutory position (as long as you have worked 40 hours in the five weeks before) is that as the public holiday is a normal day off you should receive an extra one fifth of a weeks pay (see page 15 [broken link removed]). No one has an automatic right to take the Monday off although that is the custom and practice in many companies.
