OK, your price seems very competative in todays market, you must be supplying the paints at that price. The reason I say that is that 145 x 4 = 580... if VAT is included VAT would be approx 75 so the price is 505 + 75 VAT = 580. (VAT is probably not going to be paid at all really, sounds like a cash price)
While that may sound ok, the materials may cost...
BIN primer, 3.8liters = 55 (wouldn't use it all, maybe 1/2 to 3/4)
F&B, 5.0 to 7.5 liters = approx 150 (may get by with 5 liters @ 95)
cheaper paints instead of F&B = approx 45 to 60
so 100 materials minimum (also 10 to 15 euro consumables).
So profit could be as little as 400 for 4 days work.. not great for him, good for you.
4 days seems quite accurate to me and I have experience judging painting time.
A good job would involve degreasing/cleaning all cabinets, masking the gaps between exterior and interior of cabinets to produce crisp lines, two coats primers, two coats top coats, knobs, cornices, base boards etc...
It should look lovely in the end, if the guy does it right you may pay a little tip if you're generous as he won't have been creaming you.... even an extra 50 to 100 makes the difference between a good wage and slave labour. After all some painters would quote 1,000 upwards... 145 a day is dead cheap, Irish pros would start at 200 I'd imagine
Cheers
Joe
