P60 for 2009 but was made redundant in June

quick question, I was made redundant in June 2009 and have only started back at work now.

I need my P60 for 2009 but was not with any employer on Dec 31st.
Who will provide my P60 for last year?
I need it for my Med 1 expenses

You will not have a P60 for 2009. You can only get a P60 if you are in employment at 31 December of the tax year. Your P45 on leaving would have the necessary data. Remember, you will have to also include any taxable social welfare payments from June to December 09 as income. If you received any rebate of tax in 09 through unemployment, then it is the final net tax paid that is relevant for year end.
 
You won't get one as you weren't employed in week 52/3. Did you get a p45, that should suffice? You may be due some income tax back as well.
 
You don't need either a P60 or a P45 to claim medical expenses . - If you just send Med 1 to tax office along with a short note , I am sure they will process it as you request .

You appear to have 6 months unused tax credits ( if you were unemployed from July to Dec 09 ) and if so , you should have enough to cover a tax refund of Medical Exp.

It would be ideal of course to have a copy of your P45 and a certificate of earnings from Social Welfare for 2009 , and then you can see the full picture before applying to the tax office for balancing statement .

Look again at your P45 earnings for the 6 months of 2009 and you may well be entitled to claim some PRSI as well , and even more if you qualified and received a medical card while unemployed for the 6 months to 31st Dec 2009.

If you paid tax on the redundancy portion of your P45 earnings , inform the tax office that you wish to claim ' top slicing relief '

I gave my P45 to the social welfare office when I went to sign on.
I am not sure if they kept it or gave it back to me.
would they normally keep it when you make a claim?

they should only keep one part of it and give the rest back to you ,but some people who work in the social welfare are as clueless as us ,id get on to the revenue and ask them straight up
