Hi,
I lost my job in Oct 2012 and received Job Seekers Benefit for the rest of the year (& onwards).
I recently went online and requested my P21 Balancing statement and this week received a check for overpayment of tax. (Great)
The amount is for ~€800 (PAYE + USC)
But when I looked into the PAYE explanation detail I see that they added my Income from my job (~€47k) + Job Seekers (~€2k). Is that right?
It makes a big difference:
My quick calculations I see that if I remove the €2k, the PAYE overpayment goes from €731 to €1,550.
I hope you can help clarify if I have received the correct amount.
