Hi,
I was just wondering what anyone's opinion on P.E teaching as a career is? My sister is considering applying for it next year-she is very good at sports but some people say it is a very tough career when u have a class full of teenagers who have no interest in sports or excercise. She is also very good at business subjects so she doesnt know what to choose. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Mary

Being a teacher she would have lots of paid holidays Christmas, Easter, Summer..that is one major advantage. Yes there are loads of students who haven't any interest in sports or P.E at all but if that won't get her down then go ahead!

Now that the powers that be have decided to make PE an exam subject, teaching it will become even more stressful. Gone from the students is the opportunity to enjoy sport as a release from the points race each day. It will now become an ingredient of the same points jungle.

Surely this is one course where aptitude is very important? Does the Minister mean to give aptitude tests to all applicants for PE teaching?

Wouldn't she be even more likely to face a class full of disinterested teenagers with business subjects?
