Everyone check your BOI statements, I was charged (Govt.) for an atm/laser card in May and also in October when I received my new chip and pin card. I am having difficulty getting my money back. You are only supposed to be charged once a year for this.
 
Stamp duty charges on bank cards have been in force for years now although the rates were increased in the last few years. Check out the Revenue website.
 
It's been on ATM cards since the 90s and laser cards for the past 2 yrs. CCs for about 20 yrs I think.

Didi you mean 2 years for Credit Cards or is there are Government Charge in addition to the €40 that's been around for longer that I didn't know about?

There has been stamp duty on credit cards for about 20 yrs but it was increased to €40 two years ago.
