OSP annual calculation query

Another question on behalf of my wife who is a recently retired (Sept 2024) primary school teacher. This time it's about the annual OSP application and the subsequent calculation and payment.

She worked 22.97 years so the current OSP is (22.97/40)*(52.18*289.30)=EUR 8668.69 which is exactly what she gets. With EUR289.30 is the maximum weekly state pension. (She has notional service but as we now know, that doesn't count towards the OSP).

Since she started receiving the OSP (after 9 months on Jobseekers Benefit), and due to the great help from on here, she has gained about 8 years of Homecarers credits and is now receiving Jobseekers Allowance credits only. These will hopefully result in her receiving a much better SCP when she hits 66.

Our question is now she has a better PRSI contribution record, will this factor into the OSP when she reapplies after a year?

The answer is NO, her OSP is based only on the actual service worked within her public sector employment, and calculated at date of retirement.
(This amount is however subject to change with any further upcoming national wage pay agreement increases)
Your wife will be far better off when she comes into receipt of the SCP, as ALL employment prsi records/credits are taken into account with the DSP when calculating the amount of the SCP.
