options for phone in house: VOIP?

Thinking of getting broadband into the house and tying it up with a phone package as well. To use Eircom requires some digging and cable laying(very long story), has anyone tried companies like Digiweb and Irish Broadband for the phone, which I understand is VOIP based. Is it any good and is it reliable?

We just bought a Siemens Gigaset 450IP phone with Blueface VOIP. NTL supply the broadband.

Setting it up to work from a wireless router is tricky and as yet unresolved, but when connected directly to the cable modem it works fine.

well I'm surfing right now and on my IP phone simultaneously - and I'm on a local group broadband scheme (wireless) - works perfect for me, and no line rental !
