We're attending a christening and are thinking of a practical gift, is it possible to set up a bank account on behalf of a child?

What are the best options?

What are the best options?

Had the same intention for my nephew this year but was unable to open account as I had to produce birth certificate and PPS number for him which needless to say I did not have and did not want to ask his parents for it. I got prize bonds for him instead.
