Opel zafira speedo problem

On the dash of the o/h car all lights working (oil, hand brake etc), but the odometer is not lighting up (cant read it). I have been given two answers from different mechanics so other advice is appreciated (kind of a mini poll!!).

NCT is due shortly and obviously it wont pass if they cant read the miles.

The advice I have been given is

1. a new fuse - which is unlikely as I changed the fuse and still the problem remains.
2. I need to replace the clock - which Im told is very expensive.

Any advice appreciated:)

The problem is likely one of the little bulbs behind the dash

They can blow or even become unseated. Mine went a while ago and then came back when I hit a pothole it was a vectra which are similar.

Otherwise you have to take out the speedo and replace the bulbs

I am not sure about the zafira but here is how to do it for the vectra
