Im on Job seekers allowance ATM, i was sent a letter for my partners boss to fill out and send back which he did. That was 2 weeks ago.

Today i get a call from my local social welfare office. I missed it but i called back and they said they would call me back. That was 12 o clock today. Its not half 5 and they are closed.

Im worried now- dont they social welfare only call you if somethings wrong? We have 3500 in savings in cred union that we never told them about (because i had been told by citizens advice that i was allowed have up to 20,000 in savings and it wouldnt affect getting social welfare)

That 3500 is towards our house deposit, my partner has 30 euro of his wages going in to it every week and im terrified they have found out about this money and are cutting my money.

That money is towards a deposit for a house its not for us to live on. We made major sacrifaces to save that money and im worried now they are cutting my money and expecting us to live on it.

No, it's not always bad news - SW may be contacting you with results of a means test, or they may need you to sign something.

Even though the savings aren't counted, you should have told SW about them anyway - if that's what they're asking about, you should bring a statement from the Credit Union and explain that you thought you didn't have to declare it (just as you said in your post).

Don't worry!
