I receive a fixed rate of €93 for each night of on-call which works out better than other's in the company on the mainframe side who receive about €340 for on-call for the full week (5 nights).
We don't do nights in general , 9-6 Sat,Sun and bank hoildays
On-Call (non-active), 50% of your hourly rate is paid. .5 day in lieu on bankholidays
On-Call (active), 100% of your hourly rate is paid, bankholidays 200% of hourly rate.
127 per week for 24 * 7 oncall support plus time and a half for any actual calls. I reckon this is pretty poor and is based on the rate in the home country of the company I work for that has very low personal taxation but they make up for it in other ways.
I am after being asked to do on call cover for the 26th Dec to the 2nd Jan, I work for an IT support company and the cover is to provide IT cover to 3 major sites over this period, the director of the company I work for said if i am on call and get a call they will pay me 80% of the call out fee that they charge, but will not pay me to be on call.
I think this is unfair as I am hanging around waiting on a call for the 7 days and if i get no calls I get paid nothing but still am waiting around.
He has asked me to come back to him tomorrow with what I want and what I am willing to do.
I reakon first of all I will only provide cover from 8am until 6pm on a week day and no cover at weekends - the 3 sites should be ok with this as they never have cover at weekends.
I then need to agree a fee for being on call
A fee if I have to provide phone support
Fee for call out ( min of 3 hours payment if called in?)
