Hi , i am currently on a short term contract with the civil service.

Due to a lot of overtime am currently paying 6 % pension levy. Earnings for term will be less than 15,000 euro.

1.Can I reclaim any of this back , as up to 15,000 should be at 3 %.
2.Is there any way of getting all of this back if it is a one off contract and revert back to private employment.

Tks

Am in the same boat. This issue featured in the Irish Times recently - Revenue washed their hands of it and referred it back to the employer, Dublin Corp. I think. Disgraceful that we pay so much to a pension scheme we are not allowed to join. Also our pay was cut as we were deemed to be in as secure jobs as permanents. Best advice is to email the payroll person in finance dept for their position. Please let us know how you get on.

In the last pay period the tax year the payroll 'should' recalculate the total Pension Levy due for the year and if you are due a refund, automatically pay it. The Dept of Finance issued a document which covers this, however I don't think it is published on the web and not all government payroll systems can handle it... In that case, you can claim any overpayment back at the end of the year.

I have spent a lot of time trying to find out about this.Only thing I can find is the possibility of getting the 2% levy back if i earn less than the 15,000 euro.Is it possible toi get refund of pension if not in pension scheme.Tks
