I was doing a bit of DIY and needed to remove a heating rad. When I moved the rad through the sitting room (after I thought I had drained it completely) a load of black oil-stuff came out. My carpet is now destroyed...it has long black stains all across it. At the time, I had used Vanish and some methylated spiritis but neither helped. I think I have no option now but to go buy a new carpet, the stains are that bad. Does anyone know if professional carpet cleaners can fix this kind of damage?

Nothing stains better the magnatite sludge in a radiator!

Dont think you'll get it out

Thanks for the replies. I'll give the Cleaning Doctor fella a call. I never knew that oil stuff was called magnetite sludge..I just googled it and it's scary stuff...hate to think of that stuff in my central heating system

lol, yeah, it's not oil, it's sludge caused by slow corrosion in your central heating system

maybe you could just buy a rug to cover over the spill?
