Is a company allowed to offset a capital loss on selling a commercial property in the previous trading year against a CGT gain from selling publicly traded shares in this trading year?
Yes, capital losses can be carried forward against future gains. I'm assuming that the gain on shares was a capital transaction and not a trading one. The presumption would be capital unless the company was doing a lot of investments.
