'O6 Passat Boot won't close

I think the subject line says it all! My boot has just won't close. It had its moments in the past but this looks permanent. Doing a websearch I see Passat issues with the boot spontaneously opening! Anyone got any ideas how I can fix this, or do I need to bring it to a garag after the weekend.

Bring it back to where you bought it or a VW dealer,you have two years warranty.

this happened to an astra I had around '95. had a very close look at it and noticed that it had received a minor shunt, presumably when parked. took it to a body repair shop and they fixed it for free in about 5 mins.
