NTL wireless Modem ?

A friend of mine had his NTL/UPC modem upgraded last week and now he has no internet connection to his desktop which doesn't have a network card.

His laptop works ok.

His desktop was connected to the old modem through the usb port.

Anyone else have this experience?

What can he do now to get the internet working again on the desktop?

He has two choices:
1. Get a USB to ethernet adaptor:

(Seems to be plenty of them on Ebay)
and a LAN cable
2. Get a wireless USB adaptor:

Again plenty of them on Ebay.

he should contact NTL and they may give him a wireless adapter free/loan
