Normal salary adjustment for global responsibilities / travel added to job?

Hi,

I am in a situation in work where I am being offered a job position that will have greatly increased responsibilites both here in Ireland and taking on responsibility for projects in the US as well. It will require a certain amount of travel, maybe three months annually as well.

I am wondering what would be a typical salary adjustment to account for the global nature of the role, required travel, etc.?

Any advice would be great.

You could check the Bureau of Labor Statistics in the US to see what the role wold pay in the US. Costs of living in the US vary greatly by state, do you could do well if you found a similar role in California versus Michigan. as for the travel, once expenses are met, I see that as a personal career choice.
 
I really don't think anyone here could give a sensible answer to this question. Your best option would be to find out what others within your organisation with similar roles are getting.

The employer has no discretion as to what would be 'tax free' and what is not - standard Revenue limits apply.

I'm not sure about that. I just had a tax free per diem myself. It was green lit by the company auditor (one of the big accountancy firms).
 
It is a matter of fact that Revenue decide what is tax-free and what is not. My understanding (though I don't have expert knowledge) is that they have standard rates for both local and international expenses.

Would you like to share details of your per-diem, or outline if it exceeds the Revenue rates for your destination country?
 
Surely the travel element of this is not the important part as any costs would either be picked up by your employer directly or claimed back via expenses. You should check to see the level of support your employer gives for such overseas stays, eg do they put you up in a hotel or an appartment, do they pay for a trip home if it is a lengthy stay etc.

In terms of responsibilities and reward, that will vary from company to company and without knowing what you do or your new role, I'm not sure anyone can give a fair estimate
 
All employers for whom I worked gave substantially less than the revenue-approved per diem. This applied to subsistence rates and mileage rates.

So to ask for a 'high tax free per diem' could be re-worded to ask for the 'maximum tax-free per diem'.
