Non payment of NPPR

Hi, looking for some advice on none payment of NPPR for 2 years. Bought a house with a pal a couple of years previous, we both then moved out with partners and rented the house and didn't realise we'd to pay and by the time we did we were terrified of the late payment charge and kinda stuck our heads in the sand. Thinking of selling now but mildly terrified. If legally you only have to keep documents for 7 years how can they be so persistent on it looking for proof after the 7 years? Many thanks

Where are you getting this 7 years from?

You won't be able to sell without sorting it out.

It comes up in the precontract work by the solicitor.

You need evidence of compliance.

Any charges due will expire after March 31st 2025, I believe, if you can hold on that long.
