Hi, a friend of mine from the UK is looking to move over here to open a restaurant. He has a similar operation over there and he wants to bring over an Israeli national, a brazilian national and a US national to work as chefs (one of them is his business partner also) As they are non-EEA citizens what is the story regarding work permits, etc.? This is a very difficult topic to get info on. I believe they must be earning more than 30k? If that is the case are they OK? How does he go about registering them? Any info much appreciated...
 
You must be earning a minimum of 30k and be working in a job category which is considered eligible for a work permit ie one where there is a shortage of skills within the EEA. The jobs must also be advertised nationally and throughout the EEA (FAS do the EEA bit for you) in order to ensure there are no suitable EEA citizens available for the job. Go onto www.entemp.ie and then into Employment Permits/Guidelines and procedures/Work Permits and you will get all the info.
 
INIS deals with visas, residencyetc. But you need to check the entemp (Dept of Enterprise, Trade & Employment) website for work permit requirements as they handle this area. In general, they will only be granted a visa if they already have an employment permit (although the American will not require a visa to come to Ireland).
