Hi,
I was made redundant 31st December 2005. I over paid tax in 2005. I want to claim a refund. My old employer will not issue a P60 for 2005.

Will my P45 suffice for claiming a tax refund?
Are employers obliged to issue P60’s regardless?

Thanks
T..

If you were employed on 31st December then you should get a P60 from the employer. If not then you don't get a P60 and the other documentation (P45, payslips etc.) should suffice for the purposes of claiming tax back.

Your P45 should suffice as regards getting tax back however as far as i know you are also entitled to the P60. It's something that's always required for the likes of mortgage approvals etc. so they have to give you one.

Hi lfeary,

No, if you are not employed on the 31st of December then you will not get a P60.
