No need to register, just print off the form and send it off - UK Pension

An interesting point, especially for anyone who for whatever reason doesn't manage to post a CF83 form in time or complete the online version:

I called the uk international pensions centre this morning (to request my state pension as I'm now eligible). The recorded message before you get through to an advisor now says that you only need to "register interest" in back paying voluntary ni contributions, either by calling them or via their site contact form, before the the April 5th, for your request to be taken into account.

Of course getting a CF83 form or online application should still be a priority but it might be a good idea to also "register interest" via their online form. You don't need an account to do this, it's a simple contact form.

Yes and no, but theres a difference between "getting an application in" before the deadline and simply "registering interest" in making an applcation (read my message again).

The contact form is quick, no registration is needed, no waiting on the phone and you get a confirmation mail back almost immediately. No need to fill in details, just a short message to say you're interested in back paying NI contributions for whatever years etc.

I did mine years ago but if I had to do this now I'd be sending in the CF83 application AND sending a short message via the contact form. It's a belt an bracers approach and it costs nothing.

This of course is all based on my interpretation of the recorded message.
 
This sounds like the online version of the deadline "softening" and the call back all of which can be done before April 5. What's the time difference between expressing interest and filling in the online form, maybe 10-15 minutes?
