New lock for Swedex door

Does anyone know where I can get a new lock for a swedex door.

There is a double set of swedex doors that open out into the rear garden.

The old one has just given up....& now I cannot even open the door.

The locking sequence is as follows:
Close the door, lift up the handle anticlockwise until it clicks in place & turn the knob anticlockwise. The lock is positioned on the side of the adjoining swedex door.

I understand from reading previous posts that the company has previously gone into recievership.

Is there any name or numbers on the locking mechanism itself, if so maybe someone here could guide you in the right direction. How old is the lock?

Look out for KFV, Ferco, Siegenia Aubi hopefully with any luck it might be some of those.

I just re-read your post, is it the lock on the master door or the slave door, I wonder has it just ceased, usually not alot to go wrong with them, but if they are not opened very often they can cease up, especially the slave door as not usually used as often as the master door, a bit of sms silicone spray or simular would help greatly and gently trying to open it as you put some spray on it.

No, something is gone alright, as the door handle twists more than what it used to twist.

Also I cannot open the door.

Is it possible to unscrew & remove the door handle, to open the door to check the lock type. There is a screw top & bottom, so I will give it a try this evening.

The only indication I am getting is the letters BKS written on the lock. The door appears to have several lock positions, one top, one bottom & one at the door handle position. This one remains unlocked, while the other two remain locked. I still cannot open this door even when I removed the handle from both sides of the door

I just did a google search 'bks door locks' and it brought me to the g-u site, there is an phone no, address etc there, might be worth contacting them and asking them if there is anyone in Ireland that they are supplying these locks to so that you could purchase/have a new one fitted by them.

It may be of help if you are able to give them the measurement from the centre of the handle to the centre of the cylinder and also the measurements on the side between each locking point.

There are an enormous amount of different types of multipoint locks on the market.

Cheers for that NHG. I have tired to call them & I have sent an e-mail to their office.

Been told that it is an ASSA type lock, Swiss make & the 'follower' is broken.

It will cost €95 labour & €125 for the lock.

Additional labour €20-30 for bank holiday weekend.

Is this expensive?

The €95 is probably including a call-out charge, but should include fitting. I'd ask them to give you a fully fitted figure. How many extra hours are they expecting it to take! I would imagine they would have the old lock out and the new one in within an hour if they know what they are doing.

The cost of the lock is ok, at least you can get the same lock.

Looking for extra for a bankholiday is really a rip-off, unless they are called out in an emergency.

Have a lovely weekend, thankfully they are giving great weather.

Cheers for that, however they seem to be reluctant to give me a fixed price without even seen it.
