My huband and I have got planning permission to build a house (approx 1500 sq ft) on part of our garden. We intend moving into this and selling our own. Will we be liable for stamp duty on the new house?
No. You can just subdivide your folio by a simple application to the land registry. Stamp duty only applies where you buy or have a property transferred to you. In this case, you already own it, so no stamp duty implication.
