Neighbour digging...what could it be?

Interesting thread . . . .could it be that your neighbour is building an airaid shelter in case of nuclear attack?

Is your neighbour building a tunnel to mainland europe to avoid paying taxes in the UK after Brexit?

Or could it be a subterranean television room and to avoid paying the new tv licence fee?

Yeah that was me re grass cutting. Different neighbours. They back onto my parents. Hasn't reoccurred..as yet!

There is a bit of history with this other neighbour as when they built extension put guttering on my parents side hence water onto flat roof which had resulted in leaks (it was their parents before).

Anyway I was in Tesco today and bumped into neighbour who was buying wine to apologise to my parents for noise as they were building a wine cellar! As I said they have a bar in the shed. It's slightly unusual for a 3 bed semi in Blanchardstown but sure why not!

Is this not a bit 1980's, surely craft beers is where it's at now, even in Blanchardstown.

...as they were building a wine cellar!

One of [broken link removed] might have been cheaper! I hope they're planning on using a different source to stock the cellar. Wine on sale in the likes of Tesco is for immediate or short-term consumption and isn't suitable for cellaring.

Bar and wine cellar in a 3 bed semi-d in Blanchardstown!
Celtic Tiger mkII, time to start selling

That's a good point. I see today rents are at boom time level nearly too. I should have sold at the top of the last boom. What to do. Would a wine celler and hot tub get me a better price in my own semi d outside Dublin.

I think the Wine Cellar comment is just to put you off the scent. There's going to be some wild parties there. Have a look at the attached. I've photoshopped out the wild naked people running out of the shed/bar/sauna.

Could they be building an underground rain water storage tank for garden and toilets etc?

My mother wishes that to be true....as she cruelly reminded my father of the patio in Brookside!

Anyway as this house has no access due to previous extension in neighbours so wine racks had to be brought through my parents garage and lifted over the wall. It does indeed seem to be a wine cellar. My dad has now moved into investigating whether the transport for delivery (It was a Dublin city council truck and the neighbours work there) was legally acquired. Worse my dad has now acquired an accomplice from the guy across the road (who is a builder and unsuccessfully tendered for the work). They have staggered observation times in the garden and the truck. I kid not.

I haven't seen my next door neighbour in 12 years so not hereditary!

That's a pretty stupid thing for your neighbours to have done. That they didn't leave a large double doors in the extension to bring stuff to their garden. What do they do with things like a lawnmower?

OP, your parents shouldn't be letting them deliver things through their garage, next they'll be claiming right of way and demanding the garage be knocked so they can access their property!
