need to change to gas and electricity supplier

I have recently become sole tenant in a rented private accommodation, my friend is moving out and he is on the gas and elec bill which is airtricity which is paid to date...
After my previous house was taken over by the bank , I think I got into arrears with Esb, not much I would imagine, maybe 100 euro or so but in this present climate i don't have it to pay...
Could i go with someone else for both gas and esb.... ???If so who and is it fairly painfree.

Yeah I would recommend going through bonkers, I did it recently myself. I had both gas and electric with Bord Gais but changed to Flogas and Electric Ireland, didnt need to contact either company, bonkers did everything and no interuption to service but as another poster said you may need to get current owners permission.
