Hi
I am currently on vhi company plan extra and it's up for renewal, could anyone advise on similar products for less money as I don't think I can afford the 1700+ for renewal. I have been on this plan for close to 10 years and have never changed so am thinking I'm paying over the odds now for what I need.

Hi Killsteve83,

Welcome to AAM,

The plan you are on at the moment is not good value for money for the expensive price tag.
The following 2 plans are better value, with extras included, at a cheaper price without losing cover.
Details as follows;

1. Laya Simply Connect plan; price 1265pa; all public, private and 3 hi-tech hospitals covered, inpatient excess is capped at 150 x 2 max per year
for all private hospital admissions, day case excess is 50 euro per procedure. No excess to pay in any public hospital. Full cover for hip and knee replacement surgery in private hospitals on this plan. Good day to day cover included which means you can claim 50% refund for gp visits, consultants, dental, optical, physio etc upto a max refund of 500 per year. This is not covered on your current plan, despite the expensive cost.

2. VHI PMI 07 10 plan; price 1297pa; all public, private and 3 hi-tech hospitals covered, inpatient excess is capped at 150 x 1 max per year for
all private hospital admissions, day case excess is 50 euro per procedure. No excess to pay in any public hospital. Hip and knee replacement
surgery in fully covered in Blackrock Clinic Dublin. Good day to day cover included, 50% refund for gp visits, consultants, dental etc upto a max
refund of 1000 per year. Note; Kingsbridge Private hospital Sligo and Whitfield Private Hospital Waterford not covered on this plan.

If day to day refunds are not a priority, you can go cheaper again - without the hi-tech hospitals Dublin but all the private hospitals are covered.
Details as follows;
1. Irish Life Benefit Plan; price 965pa; all public, private and Beacon hi-tech dublin covered, inpatient excess is capped at 200 x 2 max per year for
all private hospital admissions per year, day case excess 125 per procedure. No excess to pay in any public hospital. There is a 2000 co payment
for hip and knee replacement surgery in private hospitals on this plan. Depending on your age now, this may not matter at the moment.

2. Laya Essental Health 300 plan; price 996pa; all public, private and Beacon hospital dublin covered, inpatient excess is capped at 300 x 2 max
per year for all private hospital admissions per year regardless of how many, day case excess 125 per procedure. No excess to pay in any public
hospital. Full cover for hip and knee replacement surgery in all private hospitals on this plan.
