National Irish bank – changing my account without my consent

I have a bank account with National Irish Bank. Recently my branch was closed and my account was transferred to a different branch.
When the account moved, my current account was changed to a different type of bank account.
In the new bank account I can’t transfer money to other accounts electronically. I was able to do this previously.
I called them and they said that they can set up a fee pay account but otherwise there is nothing they can do.

I didn’t sign anything to change my bank account.
Does anyone know if they are entitled to do this?

There was a change lately where the got rid of free banking accounts and moved everyone to a fee paying accounts. There were a number of different types of current account.

You will probably need to either move account to another provider, with the Ulster Bank the only bank offering free banking with no conditions.

Otherwise you will probably need to review the NIB account types and pick the best one that suits you.
