I always thought that the name Euro was a rubbish name for our money.

Now that our Euroland "mates" (or maybe the markets, or even the perfidious ECB), might say siyonara to us celtic pups, what should we call our new currency? Punt Nua is muck. How about Spandoolicks ?. But if 1 spandoolick is like 100" somethings", what will we call the "somethings"? Pfennyns,(my sad attempt to spell the Irish word for penny) or maybe fenians ? So, then 1 spandoolick would equal 100 fenians. Hmmm, that might discourage cross-border shopping and rightly get up the noses of some of our orange Northern Brethren nipping south for some cheap petrol. "That'll be 20 spandoolicks and 63 fenians please" (hmmm maybe not) Suggestions anyone?

How about NAMAS?
N-not ours
A-anybody can take it off us
M-make none of it
A-always broke
S-same old same old...

How about Berties and Cowans (complete with pictures). That will be five Berties and 26 Cowans please.

Just think how quick we would move to a cashless society.

Didn't a lot of people claim that our former currency was called the Punt because it rhymed with Bank Manager? ;)
