"My shares have fallen 30% what should I do?" "Is this a good time to invest in the stock market?"

Peculiar year , powerhouse of a January , awful February and March is even worse so far, bonds look more attractive right now, I’m less than 20% bonds , promised myself when I was up 15% for the year that I’d lighten up on equities and buy more bonds or else raise cash , greed got the better of me ( and I hung on )and now I’m only up 6% YTD ( beating the market but that’s not saying much)

Trying to time the market is a mug's game.

I needed to sell stocks

It would be much simpler to just pay the TV license and get over it.

Any more cheap shots?, no wonder this site has about as much daily traffic as downtown Chernobyl

I have to say the last 5 years has been the best period ever for me in investing in shares. Since march 31 2020 (the height of covid sell off) Im up 150% in $US. However my portfolio was hit more than the average during covid sell off because of my exposure to banks, oil and europe which were the worst sectors to be in during covid. Also I probably was underperforming in the years before covid aswell for the same reasons. However these turned out to be the best performing investments after covid. Im not bragging I hope, and the covid sell off was actually the most traumatic time for me since starting investing in shares . I could not figure out why it was happening whereas the financial crash sell off actually could be analysed logically. The period from the GFC to covid was the worst time ever to be an investor in financials or oil stocks.
