Hi All,

I posted here a few months ago, saying that I wanted to pursue a career in HR. But since then, I had a very interesting conversation with someone who told me too many ppl spend too much time being unhappy in work and that u should follow your dreams. Anyway I bit the bullet, and enrolled myself in a Make Up Artistry course, I have always been good at make up and love it so I said why not. So anyway, I loved the course and ended up doing another one and a few masterclasses and I have been doing a bit of make up on the side and making some money. I have insured myself and everything.

I work 9-5 mon-fri in an office and I can honestly say that I am soo unhappy there, I go home nearly every night and cry. The ppl I work with and for are jst horrible and sneaky.

I want to change jobs, preferably in to cosmetics and be able to pursue my own career with freelance make up. I am really good at it ,and I love it. But I jst dont know where to start. Work is unbearable and its a case of get out as quick as I can at the mo, cos its worse its getting.

Can anyone give me some advise plse,

xxx

The Enterprise board (one for every county) run courses in starting your own business. I took one a few years ago and found it an excellent starting point. I would also recommend reading a few books on the subject - I went to the local library and just looked up the catalogue. There's one specifically written for Irish people by Brian O'Kane that I thought was particularly helpful. It's not easy to start your own business and keep it running successfully but it can be very rewarding. Best of luck.

No affiliations with the Enterprise board or anyone else mentioned above.

Check out for some info on women who have started their own businesses. Friendly kinda forum! Hope its helpful to you.
