I understand the land registry fee on transfer of property but I don't agree with the high charge of €375.00 but why is there also a fee called land registry fee on mortgage of €125.? Oh there is also land certificate €25.00 and cerificate of charge €6.00. It is never ending.

This is what it costs. These are the outlays that have to be paid. Its what you pay for a State Guaranteed title.
You should be able to access the fees payable on the Land Registry Website. But all the fees you mention are right.

many thanks for reply. I am happy now at last but this solicitor included a fee for arranging a mortgage for a friend of mine who had actuallly paid cash!! So I'm thinking they are using a pro forma letter and tough if you don't spot the bits that don't apply!! Of course that would never happen.

I will look at the site you mentioned as well.

With a bit of luck this will be my last house.
