A friend is a teacher and a member of the pre 2011 pension scheme. She also does some work outside this, exam corrections etc. The income from that work is not included in the pension scheme.

She has recently received correspondence regarding My Future Fund.

Will this income automatically be included under MFF ?

Would it be advantageous for her if it was ?

How would it interact with an existing AVC ?

Many thanks for any thoughts/info.

Interesting.

The SEC employes the invigilators and examiners.

The SEC is a separate employer to the DES.

So a teacher is in the normal PS pension scheme, linked to their DES employment.

The teacher could join MFF based on their earnings from the SEC.

I had not anticipated that.

Or you seem to be referring to examining work outside the SEC?

Either way, I see no interaction between any AVC and the MFF.

Just bumping this. I knew I shouldn't have posted it at the weekend.

Is joining My Future Fund with earnings from a second job, required or even possible. Where a person earns more than 20k from a main job with an existing pension scheme, but also earns less than 20k from a second job with no pension scheme.

If it is possible, is it good value.

The will be AE on the second employment, providing the two together don't exceed 80k.
