Multiple Full Mortgage Applications?

I applied for full mortgage approval for a house purchase with Ulster Bank on Monday last week. I know it hasn't been long but I'm unable to get any update from them and no valuation has been arranged. I've approval in principle with two other banks. I'm keen to close the sale, so while waiting, could I go to one of these for full approval as back-up in case UB drag their feet? Would this cause any issues, other than having to pay for multiple valuations?

No issues, it's common enough, but your solicitor will probably want to know before you sign contracts which bank he'll be dealing with to draw the funds.

Approval in principle can be obtained by a ventriloquists dummy if they manage to get their hands on a phone, and really means nothing.. Jumping to other banks will only leave you with less hair than you already have.

This is a slow process, and no matter what bank you are using, you will definitely utter the words, I should have gone to else-where for the loan.
