moving to UK - tax planning

Last year I moved from Ireland to the UK to study and work. I plan on staying here for anything from 2 years more to indefinitely.

I now want to look into above-board ways of arranging my tax and finances in the most beneficial way. I know that could be a complex area, with issues related to residency, overseas assets, pensions both state and private, and possible property taxes.

I have looked at the irish tax website which is fairly clear, but the UK one is more confusing. I am reasonably well up on financial issues but there is a huge amount of information to digest.

Can anyone suggest some good sources of information, books, websites or otherwise? I am quite prepared to pay for professional advice in this area but wouldn't know where to look.

I worked in the UK for a medium-sized audit/accountants practice who specialised in tax planning

If you are moving to the London area and you want, I could forward a contact number

It might not be waht you are looking for but if you want a contact, my email address is in my profile if you want it
